Sponsoring our Health and Welfare (from £10/month) at Child of Hope enables our Welfare Support Team to provide support for children and families in the slum.
There isn’t an effective welfare system in Uganda, so we have developed our own welfare team that regularly works in the Namatala area. Your sponsorship will help the team provide regular home visits, counselling, training for parents/carers (including health, literacy, safety, and parenting skills), and advocacy for children's and women's rights. The team also identifies vulnerable children and adults in the local community and supports their urgent care needs, with referrals to our health or foster team when necessary. The team has assisted with a wide range of problems, such as repairs to unsafe and unsanitary homes, finding safe accommodation for abandoned children, and even rescuing a child from a ditch.
