Xmas meal_6065.jpg

Covid may have put paid to the usual Christmas party for Child of Hope families hosted at our school, with its special meal of meat, rice and vegetables, but this year about 600 families could still enjoy a celebratory meal at home.

Each of our pupils’ families were provided with a bag of beef, rice and vegetables to cook for themselves, courtesy of Child of Hope. In addition, one of our generous donors enabled every schoolchild to receive a bag of sweets – a greatly appreciated treat for children in Namatala. Below is a short video of some of the kids and mums saying thanks.

Thanks to our supporters’ terrific response to our second Covid-19 appeal, we are continuing to provide families with food (traditional posho and beans) and other essentials to ensure they have food every day.

This appeal started on December 1 - its target of £15,000 will enable us to support our 600 pupils’ families (and around 100 other desperate families in the slum) through to the end of February. So far we have reached 91% of that target… if you’d like to donate, please click below. Thanks!
