It is with deep sadness that we share the news that 19-year-old Joseph, our S4 student who had been receiving treatment for leukaemia, passed away today.
This has come as a great shock to all of us. After his first round of chemotherapy, the reports had been encouraging, and the doctors were pleased with his progress. Sadly, on Friday, Joseph suddenly became very unwell and was rushed back to hospital. Despite every effort, he died this morning.
Many of you gave so generously to support Joseph’s treatment and care. We were truly overwhelmed by your kindness, and we know it meant so much to him and to his family.
The whole school community is heartbroken. A memorial will be held at the school on Tuesday, and later this week, Joseph will be laid to rest in his home village. Stella, our school nurse, is accompanying his family as they travel to Kampala to bring him home.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Joseph’s family and loved ones – we are devastated for them. Please hold Joseph’s family, friends, classmates and CoH staff in your prayers at this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for your continued love and support for the children and community we serve.
