Slum mask delivery_1020.jpg

As the virus continues to grip the whole world, health supplies like masks and gloves are not reaching local populations in developing country like Uganda – so we are organising tailors in the slum to make masks.

After consultation with doctors in the local clinics around Mbale, we made the decision to help supply protective masks to help our local community in Namatala. This week our tailors locally made 500 masks under the supervision of our school nurse, which were gratefully received.

These masks are re-usable after a thorough wash with soap and were given out to the elderly and vulnerable people throughout the slum. They were accompanied with sanitation advice and precautionary messages on the use of masks. At the same time, our team talked to as many people as possible about other prevention measures during the crisis.
