Gloria – one of our Primary 4 pupils – was recently left in Namatala to care for herself, her little sister and their home after their mum (pictured with Gloria) was taken ill. They survived on occasional food sent from the village by their older sister until our welfare team stepped in.
Since the girls’ mother was taken back to her home village to be cared for by relatives, kind neighbours have frequently stepped in to feed the girls, but with the country returning to a 42-day lockdown supplies have become scarcer.
Once our welfare team discovered the situation, it commenced food and other basic items provision to Gloria and her sister. The team is also ensuring some close supervision for the girls’ wellbeing until their mum returns.
