Just Giving Covid 19 Xmas Appeal V2 web.png

This year Child of Hope’s work changed as Ugandan schools were forced to close due to Covid-19. We have done everything possible to continue educating our pupils – including home visits.

Additionally, over the last eight months we gave out regular food vouchers to around 700 families (to feed approximately 5,600 people). That's the 600 families of our pupils, plus any other desperately needy families found by our social workers in the slum. The food supplied totalled 39 tons of maize flour and 17 tons of beans, plus 6,000 packets of salt and over 3 tons of soap.

Now we need your help again; Covid-19 is still escalating in the Namatala slum. We want to continue feeding and supporting these families with traditional maize flour and beans during December, January and February at a cost of around £15,000.

We would also love to provide a Christmas meal of rice, meat and vegetables for each of our school children’s families; that’s a very special nutrition input on a day of celebration, despite ongoing restrictions, which have seriously reduced food availability and inflated prices.

We know times are tough for many at the moment, but if you would like to contribute, please click the donate button which takes you to our JustGiving page here, or you donate via our website by Paypal, cheque or online banking.

Any additional funds over our target will be used to support slum children and families throughout the year.
