Irene is one of the mums who's just joined our Income Generating Activities (IGA) programme, one of 20 women recently recruited who were struggling to cover the basics for their children: food, clothing, school costs, the everyday essentials.
Each mum received training in running a small business, plus a bit of start-up capital to get going — around £30, but enough locally to buy stock, set up a stall, or get whatever their chosen business needed to open its doors. They're encouraged to save part of what they earn too, so the business (and their independence) keeps growing.
Irene's thank-you message is a lovely reminder of what a small bit of practical support can do when it's paired with someone's own hard work and determination.
