When the country went into Covid-19 lockdown, many teachers in Uganda lost their income. Some directors of private schools are even selling their premises to service the bank loans they had secured to run their schools.
Janet, one of our primary class teachers, is married to a teacher in another local primary school. He lost his salary when schools were forced to close, so they are incredibly grateful that Child of Hope is continuing to pay the teachers in both its schools. This is enabling Janet, her husband and daughter to survive the Coronavirus crisis.
Janet, meanwhile, is involved in helping to produce the home learning resources the school is distributing to its pupils.
