A generous donation from St Augustine's Church in Brookland, Kent, has helped equip our pupils with the tools they need to grow their own food! As a farming community, parishioners wanted to support something close to their hearts, so their donation has provided our school with hoes, seeds, wellies, spray bottles, and slashers.
This gift will allow our pupils to grow a variety of crops, including peas, aubergines, maize, jobbyo (a type of local spinach), ntuula (a small, bitter eggplant), and red and green doodo (leafy greens similar to cabbage). Not only will this help provide fresh food, but it will also teach valuable skills for the future.
St. Augustine's first learned about Child of Hope through their link with the local Brookland School, where our education consultant, Lucy, once taught. Now, their kindness is making a real difference to our children, helping them plant seeds for a brighter future!
