Do you remember hearing about the tree-planting project we began last year? So far, six thousand eucalyptus trees have been planted on 3.5 acres of land. Child of Hope is planning to plant a further six thousand on another 3.5 acres of land. When they mature in three to five years, they will be cut down and the wood used for various purposes, with new young trees to be planted in their place.
This project embraces an initiative by the National Environmental Management Agency of Uganda to reverse a decline in trees.
The sale of wood will provide Child of Hope with valuable income, as well as a source of firewood for cooking at our primary and secondary schools.
