As the primary leavers enter the final month before their leaving exams, Child of Hope has set up temporary boarding arrangement in school – it’s to help our candidates avoid distraction and focus on the lead up to examinations that are so crucial to their future lives.

Some of the classrooms have been turned into hostels to enable the boys and girls to stay on site and provides them with concentrated learning opportunities. It also allows CoH to ensure they are well fed, receiving four meals a day of vegetables, beans, posho, various snacks and porridge rich in vitamins. We try to keep them healthy and free of sickness; if someone is sick on the day of the exam then this can, unfortunately, have a negative effect on their future.

The teachers are closely monitoring the pupils’ progress and helping them in their weaker areas. By remaining on site, the pupils also have some protection from rising Covid infection rates in the slum.
